TLX Gold Insulating Breather Membrane – 1.2m x 10m x 33mm

TLX Gold is an insulated breather membrane ideal for use on the “cold” side of a roof structure. Made from layers of insulating loft quilt, finished with breather membrane on one side and a gold reflective layer on the inner side (to reflect heat back into the building), TLX Gold offers a more insulating alternative to standard breather membranes, and can usually be used in conjunction with existing roof insulation. Easy to cut to size with less mess Ideal for roof replacements and in conjunction with existing roof insulation Simple installation with basic tools and supplies Space effective roof insulation What is Multi foil insulation? Multi-foil insulation is a type of thermal insulation material composed of several layers of reflective foil, often with additional materials such as foam or bubble wrap sandwiched in between. The reflective foil layers work by reflecting radiant heat, preventing it from entering or escaping a building, thus helping to maintain desired temperatures and improve energy efficiency. This type of insulation is popular for its lightweight and flexible nature, making it easy to install in various construction applications, such as roofs, walls, and floors. Multi-foil insulation is known for its high thermal performance and is often chosen for its effectiveness in reducing heat loss or gain in buildings. What is a Breather Membrane? A breather membrane, also known as a vapour-permeable membrane, is a type of building material used in construction primarily for its ability to allow moisture vapour to pass through while preventing liquid water from penetrating into the structure. It is typically installed on the external side of a building's insulation, beneath the external cladding or roofing materials. Breather membranes help to manage moisture within the building envelope, reducing the risk of condensation and mould growth while improving energy efficiency by allowing buildings to "breathe" and maintain a balanced internal environment. How to install TLX Gold Insulating Breather Membrane TLX Gold is designed for use on the “cold” (typically exterior) side of a roofing structure. Install the gold side facing down towards the interior of the building, on top of roofing rafters - before battens and final roof finishes such as tiles. Cut to size with sharp scissors or craft knife and apply horizontally in a continuous roll across rafters, beginning at the bottom of the roof. Easily fixed in place with a staple gun Install with an overlap using the built-in adhesive strip, to ensure an airtight finish. Counterbattens and tile battens can then be added on top.
