What is a Downpipe Shoe Used For? A downpipe shoe, also known as a downspout shoe, is a component used in building drainage systems. Its main purpose is to direct and manage the flow of rainwater or wastewater from a downpipe, ensuring that the water is directed away from the building's foundation or basement. The downpipe shoe is typically installed at the lower end of a downpipe, extending it away from the building to prevent erosion, water pooling, or damage to the structure's foundation. What Do I Need to Install The Aluflow Downpipe Shoe? This Aluflow Downpipe Shoe is designed for use with the Aluflow Aluminium Downpipe and it’s other components, and is intended to be attached to the lower end of a downpipe. It is recommended to install a Downpipe bracket just above the gutter shoe for a secure finish, and finish with an appropriate sealant to ensure additional protection against leaks. The only time a Downpipe Shoe is not required, is if the downpipe will be connected directly to a drainage hole or pipe. Please see the Installation Guide for correct installation.
